History of the Texas Shredder
Dave Goodin got the nickname, “the Texas Shredder” from an article that Natural Bodybuilding Magazine did on him in 1995. The name stuck to the extent that people would see him and knew he was the Texas Shredder, but they didn’t know his name. He decided to promote a show because there was a lack of drug tested shows in Texas and using his nickname seemed to be the perfect title for the contest. In 1998 they opened with 55 competitors (which was pretty good for a first time show, especially drug-tested). People constantly told Dave that a drug-tested show would never work. From 1998 to 2014, the Texas Shredder Classic grew every year culminating to 479 athletes (not counting crossovers) in 2014. After a couple of organizational changes, it was smaller in 2015-2018, but he still pulled in over 150 competitors and has always been family run operation. The Texas Shredder Classic has always been a labor of love for Dave. It’s been his way to give back to a sport that has afforded him and others so many opportunities! We can't wait to have you at The Texas Shredder Classic in 2020 and you can meet Dave.
